Earlier this week, we received word that New Zealand would be the first country in the world to receive Apple’s iPhone 3G. Earlier today, we managed to verify that this is in fact correct, and there will be a launch event at Vodafone’s Auckland CBD store midnight July 10th, with the first iPhone going on sale July 11th 0:00:01 (rather than 6:00PM July 11th as previously predicted based on last year’s iPhone launch).
It is possible that other major cities may also have such events, as might several Mac resellers. However, at this stage we can not confirm any further details. It is also unclear when exactly Vodafone will unveil its pricing structure, but it is expected sometime next week. We hope to attend the event to bring you the latest and greatest.

Its fair to say that most readers, even recent switchers, are familiar with the secrecy that surrounds Apple product launches. Not only that, but there are strong suspicions that Apple also feeds the rumor mill with fake information so that in the rare situation official details are leaked you can never be quite certain of its validity. With this in mind, we will take a look at what can be expected at Apple’s World Wide Developers Conference in San Francisco at the beginning of next week…

Sennheiser has a reputation for making quality audio equipment, and in the case of their headphones, they are generally accepted to be one of the best, if not the best, in the industry. Instead of examining the technical aspects of the Sennheiser CX 400 in ear noise isolating earphones and comparing them with competing products, this review will attempt to show the benefits over regular iPod headphones (this is an Apple focused website after all) and their predecessors, the Sennheiser CX 300. It seems that during the few weeks we were down, a lot has happened in terms of worldwide iPhone carrier agreements. We will discuss the details of Apple’s next generation iPhone in the coming days, but it is important to note that Apple will be staggering worldwide launches following the Worldwide Developers Conference.
Those countries currently selling the iPhone will receive their first shipments at a similar time to AT&T in the United States (where shipments are already arriving on both the West and East coasts). Vodafone is expected to be next off the block with a launch near the end of the month (though there is some speculation that New Zealand and Australian stores will be permitted to begin selling iPhones as of next Tuesday), followed by the remaining, mostly smaller, carriers late July through early August. We have complied what we hope to be a conclusive list of those who have an agreement to distribute the iPhone in their country of operation…

As widely expected, Vodafone will become a dominate iPhone supplier following the signing an agreement with Apple today to sell the iPhone in ten of its markets around the globe. Later this year, Vodafone customers in New Zealand, Australia, the Czech Republic, Egypt, Greece, Italy, India, Portugal, South Africa and Turkey will be able to purchase the iPhone for use on the Vodafone network. It appears that the deal will be exclusive, although there are suspicions that an unlocked model will be made available in some markets (as in France). Of note, Vodafone New Zealand has recently started locking phones…

I began writing this review while on the bus home from university. Having carried a PowerBook in my backpack in previous years, the MacBook Air is certainly a welcomed change. While not a laptop for power users, it is more than adequate for lighter use. But how does it really benchmark against other Macs? Are common criticisms online and in the media founded on real use or simply conjecture? Since the release of the MacBook Air, almost every major publication has released a review of some sort. Instead of evaluating every aspect of the MacBook Air, this review will focus on some of the more common concerns and differences between the Air and its larger counterparts, the MacBook and the MacBook Pro…

Oh yes, you read the title right. Psystar has announced plans to start selling a US$399 tower capable of running Mac OS X. Not only that, but they claim they’ll also pre-install our favourite OS if you want them to. Their site is currently being bombarded with traffic, so we’ll fill you in on the details. Spec wise, it is definitely more powerful than a Mac mini, with a 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, along with 2GB of DDR2 667 memory, a DVD burner, 4 USB ports and 250GB 7200RPM hard drive. Though it only includes integrate graphics, there is an option to upgrade to a more powerful dedicated chip from the likes of NVIDIA or ATI…
