iPhone 2.2 Software Update Now Out
November 21st, 2008
It’s been a long wait, but the iPhone 2.2 software update has now hit iTunes and is available for download. As speculated, the update introduces Google Street View, along with public transit and walking directions and the ability to email your location to a friend. Additionally, Podcasts can now be downloaded over wifi and the cellular network. The inclusion of Emoji will please happy, sad, angry and laughing out loud Japanese users on the SoftBank network.

Apple also says that the update resolves the very frustrating issue of automatic checks using fetch failing to be carried out. Improved formatting of wide emails, Safari stability improvements and a reduction in dropped calls can also be expected. No copy and paste, Bluetooth A2DP, multiple email signatures or tethering this time around.
