Banana Bee is delighted to announce Denoise 1.0, their easy-to-use, noise and grain suppression utility for Mac OS X. Apple today updated its all-in-one iMac line with the latest Intel Core 2 Duo processors and the most powerful graphics ever available in an iMac. Dare to be Creative today announced the release of Renamer4Mac 3.0, a batch file renaming utility for Mac OS X Tiger and Leopard. The new version is the first official release since Renamer4Mac’s recent acquisition by Dare to be Creative Ltd., and sees Renamer4Mac in a new look designed to improve usability, productivity and efficiency.

Freeridecoding introduces BurnAgain FS. BurnAgain FS lets you change the content of a CD/DVD simply in the Finder. Items can be added, removed and even edited on the disk. When finished, changes can be burned to the disk several times until the media is full. Disks burned with BurnAgain FS are readable without additional software on all platforms. BurnAgain FS automatically preserves special Mac file attributes.

EarthDesk replaces the static desktop with an image of the Earth showing current sun, moon and city illumination, as well as real-time global cloud coverage, allowing users to track hurricanes and other weather systems on their Macintosh or Windows desktop. EarthDesk 4.2 adds an option to allow use as a screen saver only rather than strictly a desktop, and is fully compatible with both Leopard and Tiger.

.com Solutions Inc. has released FmPro Migrator Developer Edition 4.14 for MacOS X and Windows. FmPro Migrator Developer Edition 4.14 has been enhanced with an automated 2-pass dependency resolution feature for FileMaker table consolidation conversion projects. Additionally, the XML code defining each layout can now be exported as an XML file, containing all of the embedded images, and layout object definitions. Layout XML files can be post-processed separately and used for other projects.

A few weeks ago we reported that Psystar was going to launch a new tower capable of running Mac OS X. Not only that, but they planned to ship their computer with our favourite operating system pre-installed, with reports that the company was willing to fight Apple’s restrictive licensing terms in court if necessary. Despite rumors that the whole project was a hoax, and a somewhat uneventful response from Apple so far, it appears that the first few Mac clones have indeed shipped. Although first hand experience is for the most part positive, there are small issues involving the software update and no guarantees Apple won’t put these things out of commission when they release 10.5.3. The total number of features in Mac Pilot now exceeds six-hundred! The next meeting of the Los Angeles Final Cut pro User Group (lafcpug) will be Wednesday, April 30, 2008 beginning at 6:45PM - at the Gallery Theater in East Hollywood, California. Apple’s Luke Tristram will debut the recently released Final Cut Server. Adobe will show how to create and burn a Blu-ray DVD using Encore. Philip Hodgetts will debut The Assistant Editor.
