Low End Mac Clone Finally Ships

A few weeks ago we reported that Psystar was going to launch a new tower capable of running Mac OS X. Not only that, but they planned to ship their computer with our favourite operating system pre-installed, with reports that the company was willing to fight Apple’s restrictive licensing terms in court if necessary.

Despite rumors that the whole project was a hoax, and a somewhat uneventful response from Apple so far, it appears that the first few Mac clones have indeed shipped. Although first hand experience is for the most part positive, there are small issues involving the software update and no guarantees Apple won’t put these things out of commission when they release 10.5.3.
